Tyla's 5 favorite things for Spring

From the farmer's market in our garden, to the Monterey coastline, spring is my favorite season to reset and flourish. Living so central to so many incredible places makes spring and summer the perfect time to step out of our small town and take in all that California has to offer, especially after such a stormy winter.

Here are a few places you can find me and the things I'll be taking with me this season:

  1. Studio Joy hydrating face mist

Our hydrating mist is a staple in my purse. On no-makeup days it's perfect for a pick-me-up, and on days where I do have makeup on, I lightly spray my face and my makeup looks so refreshed & brand new. I've always had really dry skin, which has been hard to maintain during the winter, this is the easiest fix to dry and flaky skin. It's not too heavy or irritating, all-natural & sustainably sourced, I am seriously never looking dull when I have this around.

2. Free People quilted carry-all bag

I've never met a more perfect day/weekend trip bag. I can fit all my clothes, laptop, and personal items in the main compartment comfortably, and it never looks bulky, even when its full. I love the quilted look with the waterproof material, so you can bring it anywhere during these rainy days too. I'm confident in this bag lasting forever, so if you were at all questioning the price tag, I'm here to let you know it's well-worth it.

3. Lighter by yung pueblo

"Let go of the past, connect with the present, expand the future," the title of this self-reflective book reads, and is fully accurate. In this book, yung pueblo, a poet and philosopher, reflects on his path to deep healing after years of drug abuse. He speaks on the art of letting go, and healing from every aspect of our lives. I recently finished this, and absolutely loved it (will definitely be rereading this poolside in the summer) and the final poem in the book perfectly captures what I've taken away from it:

"i commit to the inward journey, and aim to make my point and all my threads in the web of humanity, full of self-awareness, full of compassion, with steady practice i will patiently unload the tension and burden i carry knowing the more i let go the less hurt i will be, feeling lighter and happier, i share my harmony with those i meet".

4. Del Monte beach in Monterey Bay

This private spot is the best place for a date-night walk along the beach, or even just sitting and watching the sunset over Carmel. There is nothing quite like taking in the fresh air on the beach and letting the waves touch your feet. Not to mention, the route from here through the Pacheco Pass is the easiest, most beautiful drive and makes the 2 hour drive feel like a fraction of that.

5. Studio Joy x March 23 playlist

The perfect driving playlist, I am seriously almost always listening to our studio joy playlists throughout my day. My favorite song on this month's is Andrew Belle's cover "Fade into You" by Mazzy Star. That song has always been so special to me, but this cover adds that beachy-boho touch that I never knew it needed.
