Many of you have asked how our clean beauty and home products came to be. The truth is, our master herbalist Jacque Riella and mom of owner Jolene Peters has been developing natural, organic, wildcrafted products for years. So, when Studio Joy wanted to offer a line of beauty and home products to extend its wellness brand Jolene knew exactly who to turn to. Learn more about Jacque’s story on how she became passionate about natural products and her journey to creating natural, sustainable, pure products made in small batches with JOY!
In her words,
I have always believed that natural is better in most things and Organic is best! I grew up knowing that my father almost died when he was around 5 years old. Two different Children’s Hospitals sent him home telling my Grandmother that they couldn’t do anything for him. A friend of hers told her about a holistic doctor from a local Indian tribe that made him a drink made from healing herbs. My father lived to be 87 years old!
Fast forward to 1998 when I decided to try making soap from scratch. I bought books (very little internet at that time!) and this is when my research on the benefits of natural products began. I would give my soap to friends that had skin problems and they would show me how much better their skin was. This lead to more research which led me to enroll in courses to become a Certified Aromatherapist. I furthered my education with a 3 year 5 course program to become a Master Herbalist from The School of Natural Healing.
These courses were life changing for me. I learned how to heal the body and mind naturally. I use pure essential oils, natural oils, and organic or wildcrafted as much as possible. If I have to use an ingredient that isn’t natural (for those products that need to be protected from bacteria so it is necessary to use something else) I learn everything I can about that product to make sure it is safe.
I am very excited to share with you the natural product line Shoppe Studio Joy that I had the pleasure to create with my daughter. Her passion to heal the body from the inside out shines through in all aspects of her life.
