We are no strangers to hot summers in the California Central Valley, but with 100-degree weather in store for the next few weeks, we thought you might like 5 tips we use to keep healthy + cool.

1

Eat fruits and veggies that contain lots of water. Some of our favorites are watermelon, pears, apples, plums, grapes, and cucumbers. Cut them up and put them in the refrigerator or freezer for a quick snack. Use in your favorite smoothie or to make nice cream for a healthy sweet treat.

2

Swap out your traditional Cup of Joe with an iced version or mix it up and switch to an iced green tea. For a refreshing drink to sip on all day, add cucumber to your water to help boost your daily consumption keeping you well hydrated.

3

Be flexible with your workout routine. If you usually workout outdoors you may have to knock it out first thing in the morning when it’s cooler. Trade a more intense workout like HIIT or running for walking or a hike. A Pilates class in an air-conditioned studio is always a good option as well!

4

Spritz it up! Spritzing your face with a cooling facial mist throughout the day will give you instant relief and keep your skin hydrated.

5

Take a cold shower. Cold showers have been proven to have several health benefits including reducing your core body temperature + increased circulation. Take one right before bed to improve your sleep and keep you cooler through the night.
